is proud to announce that design improvements have been made to the Quantum
4 Detector System, now termed the Quantum 4R, which results
in:
Detector systems delivered and installed beginning January 1999 will contain these improvements.Easier Serviceability - mechanical upgrade places the preamp/clock driver electronics out of the vacuum enclosure allowing much easier access.
Optical Upgrade - direct epoxy bonding between the CCD’s and fiberoptic tapers gives 40% more light transmission (40% more signal in the CCD’s per X-ray photon).
Improved Point Spread Function -Better spatial resolution to 90 micron FWHM from the previous 115 FWHM.
